Pura Vida Retreat & Spa is tucked serenely in the clouds, nearly a mile above the city. Pura Vida’s climate is spring-like year-round with warm days (70s-80s F) and mild nights (60s F). The sun rises at 5:30 and sets around 6 all year long.

TENTALOW ROOM Spacious six-sided tent bungalows contain the same comfortable beds and relaxing lounge areas as other rooms, electricity (no candles, please), space to store clothes, and of course, plenty of fresh mountain air. Attractive and clean shared baths surrounded by gardens are steps away. Option of 1 king-size bed or 2 twin-size beds.

A FRAME ROOM Our bright A-Frame cottages with private balconies offer panoramic tranquil coffee plantation views. Soaring ceilings add spaciousness and light. Option of king-size or two twin beds. Private bath; Coffee maker.

KIVA UPPER ROOM The Kiva building houses four total units – two units on top floor and two units on middle floor. The top and middle units are called “Kiva Upper”. Kiva Upper units have balconies overlooking the Central Valley. Option of king-size or two twin beds. Sitting area; Private bath; Coffee maker.

SHAKTI VILLA This 2-bedroom villa boasts ensuite bathrooms, full kitchen, living and dining room, outdoor shower and wrap around deck with jacuzzi and stunning scenic views of the Central Valley. 1 King Bed and 1 Queen Bed. Rates for triple and quad occupancy available upon request.

Delicious dishes are lovingly prepared from fresh local produce and regional purveyors. Served buffet-style in our inviting dining hall, all meals feature both North American and Costa Rican vegetarian, fish and chicken dishes to tempt your taste buds and nourish your body and soul. We also can accommodate specialty diets with advance notice.

Complimentary coffee, tea, alkaline water and filtered water are available throughout the day. The wine and juice bar in the dining hall stocks sulfite-free, organic wines, Costa Rican and Central American beers, and bottled water for an additional fee. It is also the place for fresh smoothies, delicious coffee concoctions and custom-blended chai and turmeric elixirs.

While styles may vary based on instructor, the yoga classes at Pura Vida are appropriate for students of all levels and our teachers are extremely responsive to students’ needs and interests.
Everyone is welcome to use our three yoga halls for personal practice when they are not in use or scheduled for class. To honor the sacred space, kindly remove your shoes before you enter and refrain from bringing glass inside.

From the dawn of time, human beings have been drawn to the active volcanic regions of the earth in search of health, healing and wellness.
Alive with transferable energy and some of the richest soils on earth, the volcanic mountains that encircle The Wellness Centre are a source of powerful natural healing.
Available treatments (can only be booked once on property). There is something for everyone. From traditional massage services to more exotic water massage, ayurvedic treatments, and blissful body therapies.

Shuttle transport from San Jose Airport (SJO) is included in the Mind + Body + Spirit packages.
Not included in any Mind + Body + Spirit or Nightly package: specialty drinks (wine, beer, smoothies, coffee drinks), gratuities, other incidentals (boutique, extra tours or spa treatments).
Spa appointments can only be made upon arrival. No advance reservations are permitted.
Excursions require a minimum of 4 people to run. If this minimum is not met, each guest will receive a credit of $70 USD for each half-day tour and $140 USD credit for the full-day tour. These can be applied towards any additional services enjoyed at Pura Vida (spa, boutique, specialty drinks at the dining hall, including beer and wine, etc).
Cancellation policy You may cancel your reservation and receive a deposit refund less a $100 USD cancellation fee up to 30 days prior to arrival date. For cancellations made within 30 days of arrival date, deposits will be placed on hold for one year from the date of cancellation and may be used towards another vacation to Pura Vida Retreat and Spa. You may only rebook once. A second cancellation made after re-booking will forfeit deposit. You will be responsible for the full cost of your reservation even if you choose to depart early or arrive late.
Traveler’s insurance is no longer mandatory however we do highly recommend that you obtain it. Ask us for recommendations.
High Season in Costa Rica is December - April. Green Season is May - November.
Deposit Policy - 50% deposit upon booking and 50% full payment due 15 days before arrival.
Full payment required upon booking for reservations made within 15 days before arrival.
